Vanishing Point

Imagine yourself standing on a railway line, it is perfectly safe today as unusually there is engineering work and no trains are running.

Stand so that you are looking along the track. If you look down at the track near your feet you can see that the rails are parallel to one another.

If you now look up and look as far into the distance as you can you will see that although you know the track to be parallel it appear that the two rails get closer and closer together until they meet at a point directly in front of your eyes.

The point where the two rails appear to meet is a vanishing point. (Images to follow)
